Speed Beacon Privacy Policy

Updated 15 September 2026

What the app collects

Speed Beacon does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Camera

The app uses the camera to detect vehicle motion between two marks you calibrate, and to save a photo when a vehicle exceeds the speed limit you set. Live video is processed on the phone in real time and is not stored. No audio is recorded and the app does not request microphone access.

Photos and events

Photos and event records (time, estimated speed, direction) are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. They are never uploaded by the app. You can delete them at any time from the Events screen or by deleting the app.

Photos library

If you choose to, the app can add its photos to your device's Photos library (an opt-in setting, or the Save button on an event). This uses add-only access: the app never reads, lists or modifies other items in your library. Photos you save there are managed by the Photos app and are outside Speed Beacon's control.

Network

The only network request the app makes is to a local-network light (beacon) address that you enter yourself, to switch that light on and off. No data about vehicles or people is sent with that request.

Your responsibilities

You choose where the camera points and how any photos are used. Photographs may contain people, vehicles and licence plates. Laws on recording, surveillance, data retention and sharing differ by location; you are responsible for complying with them, including obtaining any consent or permission that may be required where you live.

Children

Speed Beacon is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be shown in the app and published at the same URL.
